Ortho-K (Corneal Refractive Therapy)
Freedom from Glasses and Daytime Contacts — No Surgery Required
What We Offer
Ortho-K, also known as orthokeratology or corneal refractive therapy (CRT), is an advanced, non-surgical vision correction option that allows you to see clearly during the day without wearing glasses or contact lenses.
At Temple City Optometry, we offer customized Ortho-K treatment for patients who want a safe, reversible alternative to LASIK or PRK—or who simply prefer a non-surgical approach to vision correction.
What Is Ortho-K?
Ortho-K uses specially designed rigid contact lenses that are worn overnight while you sleep. These lenses gently and temporarily reshape the surface of the cornea, improving how light focuses in the eye.
When you remove the lenses in the morning, you can enjoy clear, comfortable vision throughout the day—without glasses or contacts.
How It Works
The cornea plays a critical role in focusing light onto the retina. When its shape is slightly irregular, it can cause:
Nearsightedness (myopia)
Farsightedness (hyperopia)
Astigmatism
Ortho-K lenses are precisely customized using detailed corneal mapping technology. As you sleep, the lenses subtly reshape the cornea, correcting refractive errors so light focuses properly on the retina.
The effect is temporary but long-lasting—typically providing clear vision for one to two days at a time with regular overnight wear.
Who Is a Good Candidate?
Ortho-K may be an excellent option if you:
Are not a candidate for LASIK or PRK
Have thin corneas or other eye health considerations
Prefer a non-surgical and fully reversible solution
Lead an active lifestyle or play sports
Want freedom from daytime contact lenses
Have a child or teen with progressing myopia
Because the treatment is reversible, you can stop Ortho-K at any time and your eyes will gradually return to their original prescription.
Benefits of Ortho-K

No surgery, no lasers, no permanent changes
Fully customized to your eyes
